What Good Shepherd Believes

1.About God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the entire universe. God has existed for all time in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three persons are equal and yet one God. Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Mathew 28:19, I Peter 1:2, II Corinthians 13:14

2. About You

Human beings are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. Every person is the supreme object of God's love and the crown of God's creation. Although people have tremendous potential for good, we are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin". This attitude of sin toward God separates people from their Creator until the relationship is restored through repentance of sin and a personal acceptance of forgiveness and grace through Jesus Christ. Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2

3.About Eternity

Human beings are the only thing God created to last forever. We either will exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. On that day every person will acknowledge Jesus as Savior and Lord. 5. About Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to humanity. We can never make-up for our sinfulness by self-improvement or good works. When we trust in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness we are saved from the penalty of sin. Acknowledging Jesus as Savior, eternal life begins the moment a person receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith. 6. About Eternal Security

God gives us eternal security through Jesus Christ. Believers in the grace and mercy of Jesus are secure in that salvation for all eternity. A person's salvation is maintained through the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is grace and the keeping power of God that cause us to be secure. John 10:29, II Timothy 1:12, Hebrews 7:25,10:10-14, I Peter 1:3-5
